Use your “PrintScreen” Key to copy it to the Clipboard. Alt-Printscreen should do the current active window.
Then paste the clipboard into your Microsoft Picture Editior or your favorite Photo Editor, Gimp or whatever, Crop and Resize are the only actions needed other than Save As.
Crop everything extraneous, never show more than the Opencpn screeen unless there is a good reason.
Resize to no more than 800 max x less.
Add any marks or notations that are needed (often not needed)
Save it to an upload directory with a reasonably descriptive filename. Use PNG or JPG format.
Try to compose the screenshots needed before doing them, it saves time re uploading new image.
Windows 10 users may not have Printscreen button. In that case use Windows Key + Fn + Spacebar.
To take a screenshot and save it as a file. Press the Windows logo key +PrtScn. Or, if you're using a tablet, press the Windows logo button + the volume down button. The screen will dim for a moment when the screen is copied and saved as a file in the Screenshots folder (which is in your Pictures folder).
